Letras 3D | 3D letters

Como já sabem, eu gosto de reutilizar materiais. E evitar comprar coisas que possa fazer em casa.

Ora tinha (e ainda tenho…) bastante cartão em casa de coisas que se compraram para o Afonso, como a cama de grades.

E andava a namorar aquelas letras 3D grandes que se vendem nas lojas de decoração.

Vai daí, decidi experimentar fazê-las eu.

As you know, I like to reuse materials. And avoid buying things I can make myself at home.

Now, I had (and still have ...) many cardboard boxes of things that were bought for Afonso, such as the crib.

And I had my eye on those big 3D letters that are sold in decoration stores.

Therefore, I decided to try making them myself.

Do you want to try?

Material:

- Cartão;

- Jornais;

- Rolos de papel higiénico;

- Régua;

- Lápis

- Cola líquida;

- Cola branca;

- Água;

- Pinceis;

- Tintas.

Material:

- Cardboard;

- Newspapers;

- Toilet paper rolls;

- Ruler;

- Pencil;

- Liquid glue;

- White glue;

- Water;

- Brush;

- Paint.

Instruções:

Instructions:

-Desenhar ou imprimir as letras desejadas no tamanho escolhido e cortá-las;

- Draw or print the letters you want in the chosen size and cut them out;

- Passar para o cartão e recortá-las;

- Trace them onto the cardboard and cut;

- Cortar argolas de papel higiénico (eu fiz com 2,5 cm, mas depende da grossura desejada);

- Cut toilet paper rings (I made them 2.5 cm, but it depends on the desired thickness);

- Colar as argolas numa face de cada letra e depois a segunda face por cima (assim uma espécie de sanduiche);

- Glue the rings on one side of each letter and then cover with the second side (as kind of sandwich);

- Cortar folhas de jornal em tirinhas;

- Cut sheets of newspaper into strips;

- Passar as tiras de jornal por cola branca diluída com um pouco de água. Escorrer com os dedos e ir forrando cada letra;

- Dip the paper strips in white glue diluted with a little water. Drain with your fingers and line each letter;

- Deixar secar;

- Let them dry;

- Pintar de branco;

- Paint white;

- Depois da tinta branca seca, pode-se pintar/decorar a gosto (eu optei por deixar só assim, porque as paredes do quarto do Afonso já têm muita cor).

- After the white paint dry, you can paint/decorate them to taste (I chose to leave them just like that, because the walls of Afonso bedroom already have a lot of color).

Já no quarto, colei-as com bostik e ficou assim.

In the bedroom, I hanged them with Bostik.

P.s. A ideia de usar os rolos de papel higiénico para fazer o volume não é minha. Já tinha visto há algum tempo pela internet e guardado na cabeça, mas agora não sei de onde a tirei…

O quarto do Afonso está pronto! | Afonso’s bedroom is done!

Bem, mais ou menos… Ainda está muito vazio e a precisar de decoração, mas isso vai-se enchendo com o tempo!

O meu sogro fez um ótimo trabalho, não fez? Temos imensa sorte!

Eu vou tendo ideias e há sempre alguém para me ajudar! Não é para todos!

Well, sort of ... It's still very empty and in need of decoration, but in time we’ll get there!

My father-in-law did a great job, didn’t he? We’re very lucky!

I have all this ideas and there is always someone to oblige me! It’s not for everyone!

Depois de muito pensar: riscas, murais, temas, sei lá mais o quê, optámos pelo mais simples. Paredes só com uma cor, decidindo que depois com a decoração faríamos o resto.

After much thought: stripes, murals, themes, I don’t even know what else!, we chose the simplest. Walls with only one color, and deciding that the decor would complement it.

Aproveitei restos de tinta da minha mãe e de uma amiga e acho que as cores ficaram muito bem juntas. Verde e azul para um quarto cheio de vida! Até calhou bem, que eram as cores que já tínhamos na colcha da cama de solteiro do homem.

We used leftover paint from my mother’s and a friend and I think the colors go really well together. Green and blue for a bright room! We even got lucky with the colors, because they’re the same we already had in the man's single bed quilt.

Como são cores algo fortes, pedi ao meu sogro para pintar de branco a moldura do estore. Ficou muito bem assim, mais leve.

The chosen colors are a bit strong, so I asked my father-in-law to paint the blind frame white. It looks much better now.

Pelo mesmo motivo, só fiquei com a mobília de faia, clarinha e a nova ou adaptada, preferi em branco.

Mantivemos a cama porque o quarto é bastante grande (é a maior divisão da casa) e dá sempre jeito ter mais uma cama em casa.

Também ficámos com a estante que pertencia à secretária do homem. Só comprámos uns cubos de arrumação no Leroy Merlin e ficou feito.

For the same reason, I only kept the beech furniture, very soft and for the new or upgraded furniture, I preferred white.

We kept the bed because the room is quite large (it is the largest room in the house) and it’s always convenient to have another bed at home.

Also we kept the bookcase that belonged to the man's desk. Just bought some storage cubes in Leroy Merlin and that was done.

Agora a melhor parte: o trocador!

Now the best part: the changing table!

Is a sight, is not it? All thanks to my father-in-law of course!

Para combinar com o trocador, escolhemos esta cama de grades do Ikea. Com três ondinhas, parece mesmo fazer par!

To match the changing table, we chose this Ikea crib. With three waves, it seems to be a real match to the changing table, doesn’t it?

E pronto, que tal? Agora só me falta o meu príncipe para lhe dar vida!

Parede de artesanato | Crafts Wall

Como já vos tinha falado, esta é a minha parte favorita do nosso quarto: a parede de crafts!

As I’ve said before, this is my favorite part of our bed room: the crafts’ wall!

It was simple and inexpensive, but I love to look at it!

Ficou simples e barata, mas eu adoro olhar para ela!

Desde que me lembro que tenho uma paixão por material escolar e de artesanato – É tão lindo! Às vezes até me dá pena utilizar…

Consumismo, eu sei, mas quando andava na escola, uma das minhas alturas favoritas do ano era o regresso às aulas. Não só porque eu realmente sempre adorei estudar, mas porque adorava (adoro) material novo! Pronto, é um guilty pleasure!

Portanto, chegando esta altura (melhor que o Natal!), lá arrastava eu a minha mana para a festa do regresso às aulas! Que embora com muito entusiasmo não era festa nenhuma… Era correr a Staples, Jumbo, papelarias e passear pelos corredores a ver, cheirar e escolher os novos materiais! Hmmm, que maravilha!

E depois, chegar a casa e espalhar tudo na cama, dividir as minhas coisas das da mana, etiquetar tudo, forrar os livros de uma e de outra (também tenho uma panca por forrar livros, o que é que se há de fazer…), decorar as divisórias dos dossiers…

Atenção, eu realmente gostava sempre de começar o ano com coisas novas, mas não desperdiçava as do ano letivo anterior. Enquanto as novas iam para a escola, as outras usava em casa! Vá, já não era tão mau!

Ai, tenho saudades da escola… Ganhando eu o euromilhões, e com o Afonso mais velhinho, ainda gostava de colecionar licenciaturas!

Continuando… O material de artesanato e costura exerce em mim o mesmo efeito. O que eu deliro com aquilo! Isso e ter as coisas organizadas, à mão e de preferência com etiquetas! Cada maluco com a sua mania, não julguem! :)

Portanto, não é de espantar, que esta parede me dê tanto prazer!

Since I can remember I have a passion for school supplies and crafts - It's so beautiful! Sometimes, I even feel sorry for using it…

Consumerism, I know, but when I was in school, one of my favorite times of the year was the beginning of the school year. Not only because I really always loved school, but because I loved (love) new school supplies! Okay, it's a guilty pleasure!

Therefore, when this time of the year arrived (better then Christmas!), I dragged my little sister for the back to school party! I must say, that although with much enthusiasm, it was not a party... It was a stroll through Staples, Jumbo, stationery stores, visiting every hall to see, smell and choose new supplies! Hmmm, how wonderful!

And then, getting home and spreading it on the bed, spliting my stuff from that of my sisters, labeling everything, lining the books of one and the other (I also have a thing by lining books, what can we do ...), decorating the fillers’ dividers...

Do keep in mind, I really liked to always to start the year with new things, but I didn’t waste the last school year supplies. While the new went to school, the other I used at home! There, it wasn’t so bad!

Oh, I miss school... If I ever win the lottery, and with Afonso a little older, I would also love to collect degrees!

Moving along... The craft and sewing supplies have the same effect on me. I’m crazy about them! That, and having things organized, handy and preferably with tags! Different strokes for different folks, do not judge! ;)

So it isn’t surprising that this wall gives me so much pleasure!

I have shelves to accommodate design kits, cutters and so on...

- Tenho um varão para ter as fitas washi e outras…

I have a rod to store washi tape and others...

- Tenho as latinhas para guardar diferentes tipos de canetas, pinceis, paus de espetadas…

I have the cans for storing different types of pens, brushes, sticks...

Tenho estas prateleiras do IKEA para ter as tintas plásticas e de tecido…

I have these IKEA shelves to store plastic and fabric paints...

- Tenho os ganchos para pendurar as tesouras…

I have hooks to hang scissors...

- Tenho os frascos para guardar os carrinhos de linhas...

Latas decoradas / Decorated tin cans

Eu detesto desperdício e por isso procuro sempre reaproveitar o que já tenho, quer dando-lhe uma nova utilização, quer apenas uma nova cara. Assim, não só poupo dinheiro, como evito contribuir para o desperdício de recursos.

Foi o que fiz com as latinhas para organizar o nosso espaço de trabalho.

I hate waste and so I always try to reuse what we already have, either by giving it a new use, just want a new look. In this way, I not only save money, as avoid contributing to the waste of resources.

That’s what I did with the cans to organize our work space.

Utilizei algumas latas que o meu homem já tinha na secretária dele há anos. Sei que é mesmo há anos, pois para além de sempre me lembrar delas, eram latas com calendários (de 2000 e por aí…). São portanto duráveis e práticas. Claro que bonitas é que não eram e eu posso ser prática para muitas coisas, mas não deixo de gostar do que é fofo e bonito! 

Para além dessas latas, utilizei também outras de produtos alimentares (que me chegaram pela minha mãe e avô, já que cá em casa são raros ou nenhuns os produtos que chegam em lata).

I used a few cans that my man had on his desk for years. I know it's the same for years, because in addition to always remember them, they’re cans with calendars (2000 and so ...). They are therefore durable and practical. Of course beautiful is what they were not and I can be practical for many things, but I can’t stop liking what’s fluffy and cute!

Beyond these cans, I also made use of other tin cans from food products (which I got from my mother and grandfather, as here at home products that come in a can are rare).

Therefore, I turned to my fabrics and ribbons.

Eu fiquei satisfeita com o resultado final. E vocês, o que acham?

O nosso quarto está pronto! / Our bedroom is done!

Bem, já está pronto há algum tempo, mas é agora que estou a escrever. ;)

O nosso quarto não é grande e é pouco iluminado, por isso sempre pensámos neste quarto para nós (a casa tem dois), até porque até agora só servia mesmo para dormir. Para quê mais espaço… Desta forma, ficou sempre o quarto grande e com luz para ter a secretária e computador e todos os nossos brinquedos e afins, já a pensar que seria o quarto do nosso futuro filho. O que se vai verificar! :)

Claro que assim, o nosso quarto passou a ter que ter mais uma função, para além de dormir, também precisávamos de ter um espaço de trabalho. Para além de ter que aumentar a arrumação. Afinal, tínhamos grande parte da roupa no armário do quarto do Afonso!

Senti um pouco que estávamos a querer meter o Rossio na rua da Betesga… Mas resultou!

Well, it’s been done for a while, but only now am I writing about it. ;)

Our room is not very big and is dimly lighted, so we always established it for our bedroom for us (the house has two), because so far we only use it to sleep. Why more space... This way, we use to have the big and lighted bedroom to house our desk and computer and all our toys and such, already thinking that it would be the bedroom of our future child. And it will! :)

Of course, our bedroom now has to have another function, in addition to sleep – we also need to have a working space. As well as having to increase the storage space. After all, we had much of our clothing in Afonso’s bedroom closet!

I felt a bit that we were trying to put too much on our plate... But it worked!

Adoro o nosso quarto e posso garantir que nunca lá passámos tanto tempo!

Demos-lhe alguma cor (com a ajuda preciosa do meu sogro!), o que transformou logo o quarto. A colcha também foi oferta dos meus sogros, comprada este ano na FIA.

I love our bedroom and I can guarantee that we’ve never spent so much time there before!

We gave it some colour (with the precious help of my father-in-law!), what immediately transformed the bedroom. The cover was a gift from my in-laws, purchased this year in the FIA (artisans fair).

Para a organização da roupa, a solução foi o IKEA, mais especificamente, o sistema ALGOT. Deu uma trabalheira escolher as peças certas (este cérebro também anda mais lento, diga-se de passagem…), mas no final, creio que fizemos as melhores opções. Num pequeno espaço, conseguimos ter muita coisa arrumada, e com os cortinados fica longe da vista e protegido do pó.

To organize our clothes, the solution was IKEA, more specifically, the ALGOT system. It was a bit difficult choosing the right parts (my brain is a little bit slower nowadays...) but in the end, I think we chose the best option. In a small space, we have a lot of stuff, and the curtains keep it out of sight and protected from dust.

Este quarto já tinha uma pequena zona de arrumação, com acesso por uma portinha. Ahem, com jeitinho, até se pode chamar um closet ;). Mas para aproveitar todo o espaço, tive mesmo que chegar o sistema ALGOT até ao fim da parede e à porta da porta! A solução foi ter as gavetas com rodas, para que se possa desviar para entrar no armário. Eu pessoalmente, nem tenho que tirar o carrinho, que mesmo com a barriga ainda passo bem por aquele espacinho.

This room had a small storage area, accessible by a small door. Ahem, one can even call it a closet ;). But to take advantage of all the space, I had to get the Algot system until the end of the wall and to the door! The solution was to have drawers with wheels, so you can divert them to enter the cabinet. I personally don’t have to do it, since I can still squeeze through that little space, even with the belly.

Agora a minha parte favorita é mesmo o espaço de trabalho! :) :) Adoro, adoro! O meu sogro é mesmo habilidoso e conjugando móveis do IKEA com placas de mdf, conseguimos criar este espaço funcional e com muita arrumação!

Now my favourite part is the workspace! :) :) I love, love, love it! My father-in-law is really skilful and combining IKEA furniture with MDF boards, we managed to create this functional space with lots of storage!

Finalmente tenho todo o material de costura, crafts e desenho/pintura à mão! E organizado e bonito! Ahh, que maravilha!

I finally have all the sewing, crafts and drawing/painting supplies by hand! And organized and beautiful! Ahh, how wonderful!

Dispensava as coisas eletrónicas, mas por muito que o homem também goste de pintar e de me fazer vontades :P, tem direito a ter um espaço para trabalhar!

Noutros posts, vou explicar melhor como organizei este cantinho.

I could live without the electronic things, but no matter how much the hubby also likes to paint and make me happy :P, is entitled to have a space to work!

Parede de jogos / Board game Wall

O homem e eu adoramos jogos de tabuleiro e aos poucos (aproveitando muitas promoções, hehe!) vamos construindo a nossa coleção. Claro que chega uma altura, que ficamos um pouco limitados de espaço nos armários…

A solução foram prateleiras na parede da sala. Pode não ser uma decoração que apareça numa revista, mas nós adoramos! Na minha opinião, a decoração da casa deve refletir os gostos e personalidade de quem lá vive, e acima de tudo, fazer-nos felizes! E se gostamos de comtemplar a nossa parede de jogos!

É também bastante prático, tanto quando estamos os dois na sala e nos apetece jogar um jogo, como quando temos convidados, que assim mais facilmente podem ver os jogos que temos e escolher.

The hubby and I love board games and slowly (taking advantage of many promotions, hehe!) we’re build our collection. Of course there comes a time that we get somewhat limited space in the closets for storing all the games...

The solution were shelves in the living room wall. It may not be a decoration to appear in a magazine, but we love it! In my opinion, home decor should reflect the tastes and personality of who lives there, and above all, make us happy! And, boy, do we love to contemplate our board games wall!

It is also very practical, either when both of us are in the room and feel like playing a game, like when we have guests, so they can more easily see the games we have and choose between them.
