Para 2016… | For 2016…

- Continuar a apostar no blogue e faze-lo crescer.

Valha-me o blogue para ainda ir registando qualquer coisa!

The New Year's Eve itself, is something that doesn't really matters to me. Neither me nor the hubby enjoy parties and late nights out (something I already tried to explain to our son, but he continues to insist that the best time to be awake is at night!).

Therefore, for many years, our New Year’s Eve plans was to be alone in my mother-in-law’s house, have a super romantic dinner by ourselves and seeing the fireworks out the window. (Once we were allowed to go to the roof of the building, which was 17 stories high, and saw the fires of all municipalities all around. It was pretty cool).

Remember we started dating when we were 14 years old, so for a long time, the New Year’s Eve was almost a make-believe we lived together! Of course now that we actually live together (for 4 or 5 years now, I can’t remember!) we have dinner alone every day (it’s just not super romantic ...).

Now it makes sense to go back spending the night with family, whom are more than happy to spend time with Afonso! ;)

Even though I don’t give much importance to the New Year's Eve, that doesn’t mean, however, that I don’t enjoy the change of the year. I like cycles, ends, starts and restarts. And also lists and plans. So for me it makes sense to think of some goals for the next year.

- Continue to bet on the blog and make it grow. The blog is a great creative outlet and an incentive to improve me on several levels.

- Saving more and be able to increase the monthly deposits.

- Go for more walks to the park, the three of us.

- Define a bit of time to exercise and regain the pre pregnancy belly.

- Find the time to give the hubby attention and to date, which is necessary!

- I would also like to find some time for the sewing machine as well? It’s feeling abandoned and there's so much I wanted to do...

- Increasingly exclude processed foods and seek an always healthier food intake.

- Write something in Afonso's baby book! At least I have the blog to register some things!

- Be present and available for the family.

- Take advantage of every moment with my Prince Afonso, watch and delight with his growth!

How about you, do you like to trace goals? Or prefer to proceed without plans?

Anyway, I wish everyone a great New Year and that it brings the realization of goals, but also good surprises! :)

2015 em revista | 2015 in review

We're approaching the end of the year! Every year I have this feeling, but this one seemed to go even faster! Just yesterday it was January and I was taking off the implanon, and now it's almost January again and have my baby in my arms!

On a personal level it was a very good year! I created this blog, which gives me great joy, my hubby got a job in his field in a company that he likes a lot, I got pregnant and, of course, had my Afonso! Of course there are always worse things and moments, but these are to take in the lessons there are to take (if any), fix what you can possible, accept what you can’t and move on!

I enjoy wavering and remembering things, so here are some of my favorite posts each month trough out this year.

Primos | Cousins

Ficou delirante e completamente vidrado no primo.

This Christmas, Afonso met his cousin Miguel (who is almost three) for the first time. It was the best part of my Christmas! Of course, Afonso didn’t notice any of it, but it was endearing to see my nephew’s reaction.

He was ecstatic and completely focused on his cousin.

"So darling!" It was the first thing he told him and it killed me right there with tenderness.

He cudled and pampered Afonso, he held him in his arms, cradled him in the car seat... He even lent Afonso his dou-dous! Wich Afonso elegantly ignored for his cousin disappointment.

All in all, a sweetness overload!

It’s going to be a blast watching them grow and become good friends.

Fiz uma pausa para o Natal | I took a break for Christmas

I took a break for Christmas.

It was Afonso's first Christmas, who, with his almost 2 months old was really into it, as you can imagine. ;)

Still, there were four days in a row (counting the weekend) we had daddy with us! It was too good to waste time on something else, even with the blog.

So I didn’t turned on the computer in these four days, nor wished Merry Christmas to anyone... But don’t be surprised, I rarely wish happy Christmas to anyone. It’s one of those things that completely pass my mind.

But I really hope you had a great Christmas with your family.

We ran through all homes over the Christmas days and managed to spend a bit of Christmas with almost every member of the family.

Because that's what Christmas is all about, and is the presence of family that fills our hearts.

That and great Christmas food! Yam, yam! (The hubby says it would be as good to eat pizza at Christmas and goat, octopus or Christmas sweets at any other time. For course it would, but I like traditions and, during this time of the year, things have a special taste!)

And there's more next year! When, yes, Afonso will be more interested!

Quando nos olham… | When they gaze at us…

A few weeks ago, Afonso began to look at me.

Really gaze. Eyes to eyes!

What a wonderful feeling!

Of course they interact with us from birth, in the only way that they know: by crying. So when this interaction gains other outlines, as with gazing, it's wonderful!

Every day he seems to enjoy even more looking at me and daddy!

I love it when nurse him and he is wide-eyed, focusing on me.

I love it when, at the weekend, he spends more time with his daddy and fights sleep off as to not stop looking at him.

I love it when he grumbles when I look away. For if the child only has eyes for his mother, shouldn’t his mother only have eyes for her son, huh?

How nice it is!

Primeira saída a dois (sem filho…) | First date (without the baby…)

E o menino estava sempre bem, claro.

As I said yesterday, the hubby and I went out for dinner and a movie!

Star Wars, which we’ve been waiting for so long!

But I couldn’t truly enjoy. The movie is spectacular, I just wasn’t able to abstract myself…

Before arriving at the mall, I had already burst into tears three times. The first, literally two minutes after my in-laws took Afonso!

I phoned them almost every hour (they probably couldn’t be more fed up with me...). And the baby was always ok, of course. Sleeping, or eating, or changing his diaper...

But the mother was not ok. I missed him so much in those hours! Always thinking about his smile, his eyes (I talk about this tomorrow), his little hands, his absence in my lap...

The hubby says that I have to continue to go out to get used to being without him, so it won’t be so hard when I get back to work... Well, All right! But I still have time!

Yesterday was too early and it was very hard.

I never doubted he would be ok with my in-laws. He isn’t yet at a stage to dislike the change in surroundings and is more than accustomed to his grandparents. And I will go out again without him, of course.

But just not yet.

How about you? At what age did you left the baby with someone for the first time? How did you feel? A sissy like me, or did you held yourself together?

Hoje é dia de geek out! | Today, I'm geeking out!

Yeaahhhh!

É agridoce, no entanto!

It's breaking my heart! (Visualizem a Padmé em Mustafar)

Yeahhhh! Star Wars - The Force Awakens is today!

I haven't open 9Gag and went to facebook very carefully! So far no spoilers! But just in case, I think I'll turn off the computer for the rest of the day, since I'm only going to see the movie at 21:30.

It's bittersweet, however! I've been waiting for this movie for ever! But I've never been away from Afonso for more then 20 minutes ... My little padawan will stay with his grandparents tonight so his parents can go dating and geeking...

Dad is used to being outside all day, but the mom is not...

Of course he will be fine with his grandparents. Of course I'll call before, during and after dinner, in the intermission of the film, before we came home... Oh, but damn, it will be hard!

Arrumação de fitas | Ribbons’ storage

Tenho carradas de fitas! Compradas, herdadas, recuperadas…

E fica bonito e eu gosto, pronto!

I have boatloads of ribbons! Some bought, some inherited, some recovered... I use them with several purposes: to decorate in small crafts, in softies, to cute up an outfit... and even just to look at them because they’re beautiful, there, I’ve said it!

But it’s necessary to organize them, or else I’ll end up with overflowing boxes with tangled ribbons that are not practical at all!

Now, what do I do?

I reuse something else that I always end up with too many: card bookmarks.

There are a finite number of necessary bookmarks! But it's those things that are always appearing, especially when you shop at the book fair...

So, I give it another use: I use them to roll up my ribbons and have them always beautiful and handy. It's easy to sift through the options and choose the one I need. And it’s beautiful and I like it, ok?!

Receita: Empanadilhas de atum | Recipe: Tuna empanadillas

Geralmente, não aprecio atum cozinhado. Mas abro uma exceção para empanadilhas! :)

Ora então, a receita! ;)

I generally  don’t appreciate cooked tuna. But I'll make an exception for empanadillas! :)

Like other meals, I prepared the filling of the empanadillas in the last weeks of pregnancy, so I’d be a little freer afterwards... I ended up doing some empanadillas to eat immediately and freeze the rest of the filling for later.

Now then, the recipe! These amounts are good for about 8 empanadillas of good size! ;)

Ingredientes para o recheio:
- 3 latas de atum em azeite;
- 1 cebola;
- 1 pimento assado;
- 2/3 dentes de alho;
- 1 tomate maduro;
- Polpa de tomate;
- Louro;
- Azeite;
- Vinho branco;
- sal e pimenta q. b.

Ingredients for the filling:
- 3 cans of tuna in olive oil;
- 1 onion;
- 1 roasted pepper;
- 2/3 garlic cloves;
- 1 ripe tomato;
- Tomato paste;
- Bay leaf;
- Olive oil;
- White wine;
- Salt and pepper as needed.

           1)      Fazer um refogado com a cebola, alho, tomate, azeite e louro;

           2)      Adicionar o atum e misturar. Regar com vinho branco;

           3)      Se utilizarem pimento já assado, devem juntá-lo agora, partido aos bocadinhos (também podem usar pimento cru, mas então, juntem antes do atum e deixem cozinhar ligeiramente em lume brando);

           4)      Adicionar a polpa de tomate e ajustar os temperos.

1) Make a stew with onion, garlic, tomatoes, olive oil and bay leaf;

2) Add the tuna and mix. Sprinkle with white wine;

3) If you use already roasted peppers, you should join it now, cut into small pieces (you can also use raw pepper, but then add it before the tuna and let cook over low heat);

4) Add the tomato pulp and adjust the seasonings.

Fácil e delicioso! :)

Easy and delicious! :)

To make empanadillas, you can make your own dough, or use store bought shortcrust pastry, which is what I did this time. A round shortcrust pastry is good for four empanadillas.

Cut it into quarters, fill them and close-in, folding the corners. After coating with egg or milk, bake for about 30 minutes.

Bom apetite!

Enjoy!
